Hear the crickets chirping at the close of day

Loud and deep the foghorns call across the bay

High above the wild geese sound their ancient cry

They and I together sing you lullaby.

As the tidal motion waltzes with the moon

As the cobble beaches take their ease in June

As the soaring eagle seeks his lofty nest

Far away the storm clouds; baby, take your rest.

As the rolling waters love the wise humpbacks

As the wee sandpipers love the muddy flats

Fiddleheads love springtime, violets love the dew

Pine trees love the hillside; baby, I love you.
